Kwik Fit is also scoring well with private motorists especially now it offers servicing at 300 sites. This is creating big competition of car dealers in the UK.
The Exhaust Market
No Market sector, however, has changed as dramatically as exhausts. In recent years sales have declined taking away a stable revenue stream in the aftermarket.
Ford Rapid Fit ( car dealer service ) said ” Exhaust sales are in long term decline. There has been an industry-wide switch to fitting long-life products as standard, meaning that vehicles simply don’t need a replacement exhaust until years later in their life time.”
Soome relief comes in the form of catalytic converters but Vauxhall trade club’s Jim Williams said: ” Sales have fallen. We have a comprehensive range tailored for each model, whereas afermarket systems might have the same centre pipe to handle different engines. Exhaust systems are lasting much longer than before.”
Car Dealers were looking to take advantage of the aftermarket sales by attempting to monopolise with strong websites and targeting parts sales online however with the market in decline, it looks like tough times ahead for all car dealers concerned.
